The Actions Menu

Everything that acts on what the list is showing is on the Actions menu, whichever view it belongs to. Its items are relabelled for the view you are in and greyed out where they do not apply, so the menu answers “what can I do here?” without trial and error.

On a Mac, use Cmd for Ctrl.

Ctrl+D follows the same rule as the menu item, and so does the bare Delete key, which also works from the details panel. In other views neither does anything. Delete never acts from the repository list.

Context menus

The Applications key, Shift+F10, or a right-click opens a context menu (on a Mac, VO+Shift+M with VoiceOver, or Ctrl-click).

In the item list it starts with what Enter does in that view, for example Show Commits on a branch or Open Here on a search result, and then offers everything the Actions menu offers in that view, with Copy and Pull Request as submenus. It is built from the Actions menu each time, so the two always agree. It ends with View More (Ctrl++) in every list that loads in pages. On a repository in Starred, Watched, Shared With Me, an organization’s repositories or repository search results, it also has Go To (see below), and Backspace from where it takes you comes back to that row.

In the repository list, a repository’s menu has Open, Open on GitHub, Go To, New Issue…, Search This Repository… (a search starting repo:owner/name), Watch Settings…, Add to Favorites or Remove from Favorites, Copy, and Remove from List. Go To opens the repository straight on one of its views: Issues & PRs, Branches, Commits, Tags, Releases, Workflows, Workflow Runs, Labels or GitHub Pages. Copy includes Copy HTTPS Clone URL and Copy SSH Clone URL, the addresses git clone takes. These are the same commands as on the Actions menu, for the repository selected. A saved search’s menu has Run Search and Remove Saved Search; Favorites and the other entries at the top have Open.
