Favorites

Favorites gather the things you come back to, from any repository, into one list. Press F on almost anything to add it: an issue or pull request, a branch, a commit, a tag, a release, a label, a workflow, a workflow run, a published page, the subject of an Activity event, or a repository, whether in the repository list or in Starred, Watched, Shared With Me, an organization’s repositories or search results. Press F again to remove it.

The same command is Actions → Add or Remove Favorite (F), and it is on the context menus (the Applications key or Shift+F10), where it says which it will do: “Add to Favorites” or “Remove from Favorites”. With the repository list focused, it acts on the selected repository.

The status bar confirms each change: “Added to favorites” or “Removed from favorites”. A favorited item has a ★ at the start of its row, so you hear it as you arrow past, and pressing F puts the ★ on or takes it off straight away.

The Favorites view

Choose ★ Favorites at the top of the repository list, or press Ctrl+9. The entry in the repository list shows how many favorites you have.

Each row shows the kind of item, its repository, its title and a short description. The details panel adds when you favorited it and its address.

Key Action

A favorite repository is the quickest way back to one you use often, an organization’s say: ★ Favorites, then Enter.

Favorites are kept on your computer, in favorites.json in your settings folder, so they last between sessions and survive updates.
